Supermicro are really good for storage, and support at serverdirect is quite good. e.g if you order a server for storage, **zfs** will be the preferred file system (used in sto1/2/3/4), so you don't need expensive RAID controllers but just HBA cards to connect the HD's (SAS). At serverdirect they will already configure this host card , so you just have to plugin the HD's.
