We have three sorts of servers at visionlab, those primarly intended for storage -> storage servers, and servers for more specific services like websites, source control, etc -> web servers, and last but not least, the servers with GPU's intended for calculations.

User administration To easy the creation of users, I made a couple of bash scripts that do all the magic. They are located in the directory /usr/local/bin and are called add_backup_user.sh and remove_backup_user.sh. These users will be mounted on all tesla servers.

For the new CT scanner we will be needing a new storage server where the scan data will be exported to. This server will need a data management system to keep track of when data was created and to manage the lifetime of this data. A system will also be needed for companies to make reservations for the scanner. Internally requests are stored in a shared calander that will keep track of who is using the scanner and for what assignment.

Someone leaves When someone finishes their research, their data remains on the server and their account stays available. It is however convenient for the other project members to have access to their data to continue pending research. To deal with this issue we change the permissions for the users home directory to 770 and make all their files available to the group they are in. Here admins can find more info about some servers/services, and how to add/delete users in the openLDAP directory , initially configured on sto3. visiesrv1 is the older webserver, and still provides access to an SVN server, and 2 websites , cadans and redmine. In the longer term, this server should be upgraded and serve as a backup of the newer server,
